Position Overview: The Cook is responsible for providing residents a high-quality dining experience by preparing a variety of foods from scratch ingredients according to The Cedars standards and expectations. Essential Job Functions: Maintain a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm with residents, staff, and guests. Follows recipes and procedures as provided by Chef and/or Director. Prepares all foods, which may include meat entrées, vegetarian entrées, vegan entrées, vegetables, and starches. Meets serving time requirements. Responsible for pre-preparation related to upcoming food demands. Maintains food quality and appearance standards that meet customer and supervisor expectations. Maintains proper sanitation guidelines as set by sanitation training, policies, and procedures. Records and maintains production record book with accuracy. Checks and records temperatures on all hot and cold items. Ensures that all food is properly handled, wrapped, labeled, and dated. Checks with supervisor before discarding any food products. Respond to minor complaints in a courteous and professional manner. Follows chain of command while addressing issues of concern Stocks as needed. Stores cleaning supplies separately and away from food preparation area. Receive and appropriate respond to oral and written communications and direction. Communicates and exhibits the mission, vision, and core values of the organization. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Communicate problems and ideas to management. Bring solutions to your concerns. Qualifications and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Basic food service knowledge. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Spanish bi-lingual capabilities are a plus.
