Description River Market Community Co-op is hiring a Full Time Cook! Experience-based pay ranging from: $18.40 - $19.65 per hour Approximately 32 hours/week. Weekend availability required. Work for a community-owned grocery store in downtown Stillwater and help support a sustainable local food system. Your experience is rewarded by advanced placement on our starting wage scale. Union position Reports to: Deli Manager Execute daily production list as delegated by supervisor. Ensure understanding of amounts and techniques to be used in preparation. Assess recipe batch sizes and prepare ingredients accordingly. Practice established safety and sanitation procedures for food handling and preparation. Follow all directions accurately and in accordance with established production guidelines. Utilize quick and efficient knife and cooking techniques in order to increase production. Manage oven and stove time, assist other staff as needed. Follow proper procedures in cleaning department areas and equipment. Follow safety guidelines in regards to lifting, knife handling, equipment operation, etc. Prepare special orders of deli foods per delivery date of special orders. Assist in research and development of new recipes as directed by Manager. Recognize and inform supervisor of ingredient shortages and out of stocks. When preparations are completed, store unused ingredients, with attention to accurate labeling, dating and storing. Participate in kitchen-cleaning side work and inventory days as directed. Maintain accurate records as required. Ensure forward facing customer service. Requirements Ability to multi-task, perform repeated bending, standing and reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds Must have weekend and evening availability Must be 18 years old to operate the slicer machine Performs basic arithmetic including counting, addition and subtraction Preferred experience in food service like deli, catering, restaurant Preferred experience serving customers ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: Must be physically able to occasionally grasp, grip, pull, push, twist, and turn as needed. Constant (67-100%): Walking, standing, talking, hearing, correctible vision including near acuity and depth perception Frequent (34-66%): Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds floor to waist, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds floor to waist Occasional (1-33%): Working in refrigeration, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance floor to waist, lifting/reaching waist to shoulder, lifting/reaching above the shoulder Approximately 5% of the time: Administrative duties & sitting
Responsibilities
The Cook is responsible for executing the daily production list, preparing large quantities of food, and ensuring safety and sanitation procedures are followed. They will also assist in recipe development and manage ingredient shortages.
