Suwannee Valley 4Cs is the Head Start and Early Head Start grantee in Columbia, Hamilton, Lafayette and Suwannee counties. Established in 1985, we are a private, non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of low-income children and their families by offering comprehensive early childhood development services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to lift 45 lbs. from floor level and carry 75 feet several times a day
  • Must have access to dependable transportation with valid current liability insurance and a valid driver’s license
  • Must pass physical and Department of Children and Families background screening requirements

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Be knowledgeable of and adhere to agency policies and procedures, Head Start regulations, local/state child care regulations, and other regulations, as applicable
· Be knowledgeable of and adhere to USDA, Head Start and Health & Sanitation guidelines and requirements
· Be knowledgeable of and observe agency purchasing procedures for food and supply ordering
· Follow monthly menus in accordance with USDA and Head Start standards
· Provide menu planning at each individual site for special occasions and holidays
· Order and maintain kitchen inventory and food supplies sufficient to meet the needs of the Head Start/Early Head Start sites
· Unpack and appropriately store bulk food deliveries
· Prepare meals for children, teachers and volunteers and facilitate meal service in the classrooms
· Create and implement plans to reduce waste/minimize leftovers; include plans to utilize any leftovers in meal preparation
· Maintain safe and sanitary food service area
· Assist teaching staff in maintenance of facility
· Maintain and submit accurate records to USDA Coordinator, as required by USDA and Head Start
· Become familiar with program goals, objectives and philosophy

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend annual Cook training
  • Attend annual Summer Institute TSRM training
  • Must obtain a minimum of 15 clock hours of professional development each year (which includes mandatory attendance at the Annual Summer Institute)
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned
  • 4 hour Food Safety online training
