OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook/Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team, to work either part time or full time on weekends and weekday evenings. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation is carried out efficiently and in accordance with food safety standards. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about cooking and eager to learn more about the culinary arts within a dynamic restaurant or catering environment.

SKILLS

  • Experience in meal preparation or food preparation within a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for culinary arts and a willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure smooth coordination within the kitchen team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of meals by chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients as required.
  • Support chefs and cooks in the kitchen by following instructions and helping with various cooking tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all utensils and equipment are properly cleaned and stored.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and checking stock levels of ingredients.
  • Help in setting up for catering events or special functions as needed.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen operations.
