LifePath, a local not-for-profit agency, has an immediate opening for an experienced Cook in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
Summary: The Cook is responsible for working with the food preparation team to : (1) produce 400 to 500 good tasting and visually appealing meals daily in accordance with the menu, standardized recipes, portion requirements and production schedules; (2) keep the “cooking area” clean; and (3) make sure all safety and sanitation polices are strictly followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
· Follow the approved recipes as directed by the Assistant Kitchen Manager to produce good tasting and visually appealing meals.
· Assures that all of the required foods are available, in the right amount, at the times needed by the various delivery personnel.
· Works with the Assistant Kitchen Manager to assure that raw foods are used as efficiently as possible and waste and spoilage is eliminated
· Communicates and works with the kitchen team to assure things run smoothly in the kitchen
· Complies with all food handling and sanitation practices and procedures as governed by law.
· Keeps the cooking area clean and orderly and maintains proper sanitation of work stations and equipment
· Informs the Assistant Kitchen Manager of problems relating to food preparation and equipment as they arise.
· Actively looks for ways to improve the flow and function of the kitchen and shares ideas freely
· Serves as a positive spokesperson for the agency on and off the job
· Actively works to help create a friendly, professional and positive work environment free of gossip and drama
· Reports any violations of policies, unethical behaviors, misuse of LifePath property or suspected mistreatment (even rude treatment) of seniors to the supervisor or ED
· Performs all other duties as requested by the Assistant Kitchen Manager
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalency; must be flexible and able to function in a fast-paced environment, Minimum of 2 years High Volume Institutional Cooking experience required. (Restaurant experience may be substituted).
Attendance/Punctuality - is consistently at work and on time; returns from breaks on time; reports that he/she is ready for the next assignment as soon as the prior assignment has been completed, arrives at meetings and appointments on time and fully prepared.
