Position: Cook
Location: Marini Café, Maroubra NSW 2035
Salary: $78,000 – $80,000 per annum + superannuation

Marini Café is a vibrant and much-loved local café located just minutes from Maroubra Beach. We are passionate about delivering exceptional food, quality coffee, and warm service in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. With a strong focus on fresh ingredients, seasonal produce, and innovation, we’re looking for a skilled Cook to join our dedicated kitchen team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) is highly regarded
  • Diploma of Hospitality Management (or equivalent) is highly regarded
  • Minimum 5 years’ full-time experience in a busy café, restaurant, or commercial kitchen
  • Strong culinary knowledge and ability to deliver consistent food quality
  • Experience leading or supervising kitchen staff
  • Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and WHS practices
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
  • Creativity in menu planning and a passion for modern café cuisine
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Cook at Marini Café, you’ll be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes that exceed our customers’ expectations. This role is ideal for a motivated culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about food presentation, consistency, and creativity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of high-quality dishes across breakfast and lunch menus
  • Assist in planning and developing seasonal menus and daily specials
  • Maintain excellent food presentation and portion control standards
  • Monitor and manage inventory and food costs, placing orders as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff
  • Minimise food wastage and maintain cost-effective kitchen operations
  • Collaborate with management on menu improvements and customer feedback
