Location: Merly’s Kitchen CIC Tearoom
Contract: Permanent, 5 days per week (including weekends)
Reports to: Director / Tearoom Manager

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

We are looking for an experienced and creative Cook to take the lead in our kitchen operations. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and baking high-quality dishes, managing stock, supporting and training volunteers, and developing menus that showcase both traditional favourites and fresh, innovative ideas. Afternoon teas will be a key part of the offer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food hygiene and safety.
  • Prepare, cook, and bake a range of hot and cold dishes, cakes, and treats for the tearoom.
  • Produce and present afternoon teas to a consistently high standard.
  • Manage and monitor stock levels, including ordering, rotation, and waste reduction.
  • Work with the Director/Manager to develop seasonal menus and daily specials that elevate our current offering.
  • Supervise, train, and support volunteers working in the kitchen, ensuring they feel valued and confident.
  • Maintain allergen records and ensure compliance with food safety legislation.
  • Contribute ideas for community events and group catering as required.
  • Report any maintenance, equipment, or safety issues promptly.
