Your Opportunity
Our residential aged care facility caters to men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, or who have experienced financial or social disadvantage.
This role will assist the chef in providing nutritionally balanced meals meeting the aged care standards and NSW Dept Health Regulations. This role will work within budget as set by the Chef and maintain food and cooking areas in a hygienic & functional manner following HACCP.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Meal preparation under the direction of the chef in accordance with the dietary requirements of the clients
- Work from a preplanned four-week rotating menus and cater for occasions
- Receive food deliveries and ensure prompt and correct storage
- Maintain accurate records and ensure adequate food stock & rotation of stored food
- Advise the Chef/Director of Care of any signs of infestation and maintain kitchen in a safe and hygienic state
- Identify & report any incidents or safety concerns to the Chef and action if appropriate
- Complete all CQI activities and follow all Safe Work Practices
- Ensure the security of the kitchen area & its storage facilities and also supervise the kitchen hands ensuring tasks are completed
Requirements for Success
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a cook and working with aged care facilities is an advantage
- Relevant certificate in food safety and experience in food handling role
- Understanding of food safety and quality standards essential
- Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination essential; 2 doses along with latest booster along with yearly flu vaccination
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
