We have vacancies across our Seven venues in Far North Queensland including: The Edge Hill Tavern, 4870 Balaclava Hotel, 4870 Woree Tavern, 4868 Mission Beach Resort, 4852 Smithfield Tavern, 4878 Gateway Hotel Mareeba, 4880 Atherton Hotel, 4883 Duties & Responsibilities For Cooks: Comply with all safety and health policies, procedures, and role responsibilities as outlined in the Safety and Health Responsibilities and Accountabilities procedure Maintain a safety-first mindset, ensuring all tasks are performed safely Follow and stick to all standard operating procedures in daily operations Ensure day-to-day working practices follow health and safety policies and the Safety Management System Report employee or patron incidents promptly and accurately Uphold hygiene standards in back-of-house operations by following cleaning schedules and procedures Assist with washing up and kitchen cleaning when a kitchen attendant is unavailable For Chefs: Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring business objectives and service standards are achieved Prepare and serve meals to high-quality standards, maintaining consistency and timeliness Maximise revenue by meeting customer needs and enhancing menu offerings for competitiveness Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP requirements Maintain a safe working environment by complying with health and safety policies and promoting a safety-first culture Oversee stock management, including ordering, receiving, storing, stocktakes, and cost control Provide leadership to the kitchen team, fostering teamwork, training staff, and monitoring performance Review and implement menu changes to maintain quality and operational efficiency Qualifications For Cooks: Food safety certification (preferred, not required) Relevant work experience in professional kitchens For Chefs: Apprenticeship or vocational training with hands-on kitchen experience Necessary trade cooking qualifications (Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery) Current Food safety certification, or are willing to obtain one.
