Description
Description The Cook is responsible for the timely preparation of 20-30 resident meals, in compliance with food service regulations. Responsible for ensuring appetizing, high quality meals are prepared, and cleanliness standards are followed. The part time cook works 24 hours per week, variable shifts/days, noon to 7 pm or 2p-7p. Follow recipes and preparation directions, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients Bake, grill, steam, fry and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods Garnish and arrange dishes in an appealing manner Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes Handle and store ingredients and food according to health department regulations Maintain food safety and sanitation standards Open, close, clean and sanitize kitchen as scheduled Assist in serving food to residents as needed Requirements High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; restaurant experience and/or training preferred. ServSafe certification required within six months of employment. Personal qualities of responsibility and dependability. Must demonstrate effective communication skills with team members, residents, and family members. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. with proper lifting techniques and able to perform physical labor on a daily basis. Must be able to access facility and operate kitchen equipment independently. Must demonstrate proper use of kitchen and cooking equipment and utilize good sanitation techniques in accordance with health department standards. Clear background check and drug screening required.
