  DEPARTMENT:   Food and Nutrition Services   SHIFT:  8 Hour Shifts  POSITION SUMMARY PREPARES AND COOKS FOOD FOR PATIENTS, RESIDENTS, AND STAFF. CLEANS COOKING AREAS. ABIDES BY FOOD SAFETY PROTOCOLS IN PREPARING, STORING, COOLING, AND COOKING FOODS.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Performs assigned cleaning and cooking duties * Maintains and stocks * Internal and external customer service * All other duties or responsibilities as assigned   QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required: * Current Food Handler’s Certification or Serv Safe Certification  * BLS certification within 3 months of hire   Minimum Experience Required * Previous culinary / cook experience for large quantity food production   Education Preferred * Prefer a minimum of High School Graduate or GED   Experience Preferred: * Prior experience in healthcare foodservice preferred. * Formal culinary training. * Expertise with cooking skills necessary to prepare nutrition, high-quality food for regular and dietary components of therapeutic diet modifications.   * Knowledge of healthcare regulations for dietary services. * Working knowledge of HACCP.   Skills: * Food Service / cooking experience is preferred. * Able to understand English, both written and verbal. * Must be able to read and follow directions for menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet restrictions. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. * Knowledge of use and care of food service equipment.
