Description Milestone Recovery is here to provide the best quality of services to empower individuals with substance use and behavioral health disorders to attain stability, dignity, recovery, and an enhanced quality of life. Per Diem Cook Position Profile: Responsible for executing meal preparation, plating, and kitchen upkeep on a Per Diem basis, across all three of our locations in Portland and Old Orchard Beach. Our Extended Care Facility in Old Orchard Beach houses 20 clients and serves lunch and dinner daily. We also provide three meals a day at our Detox and Short-Term Residential facility (for 24 clients) in Portland. Our Shelter in downtown Portland serves 36 dinners per night. The Per Diem Cook will cover employee leaves, PTO, and sick days for cooks when needed and will be cross-trained to cover shifts in all three locations. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Prepare meals for clients Keep kitchen, dining area and food storage clean, organized and in good condition Follow all state and federal food safety regulations Control and log temperatures for all equipment Attend occasional program staff meetings and appropriate trainings Engage with clients in the preparation of meals (at Extended Care) Perform other duties as assigned. Schedule: Varied day shifts, may include weekends Hourly: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour Physical demands and work environment: Freedom of movement on a regular basis. Operating kitchen equipment in a normal full service kitchen environment. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. May spend extended periods walking, twisting, bending, standing and lifting. Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent. A valid Maine state driver’s license is required. A minimum of 1 year of institutional cooking experience. ServSafe certified is a plus.
