Type of Opportunity: Full time Job Exempt: No Job is based: Plains Regional Medical Center Work Shift: 10 Hour Days (United States of America) Responsibilities: The Cook assists in preparing hot food items for the following day according to the established menu cycle. This role includes fruit and vegetable preparation, portioning, and other bulk food production, as well as helping create Grab‑and‑Go and other retail food items. Responsibilities also include routine cleaning and sanitation of all work areas and supporting food service by serving items as directed by workflow. The Cook must demonstrate strong knowledge of food‑service safety practices, temperature control, and proper knife skills, and must be able to follow recipes for both cooking and baking. A general understanding of diet orders—and where to locate that information—is essential. Additional duties include delivering trays to patients, operating a cash register to provide courteous and efficient checkout service to visitors, and performing tasks such as putting away orders, dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and taking out trash. Qualifications: High School/GED One to three years experience in quantity food preparation.
