Orchid Lawns is looking to recruit a Cook to join the team. This is for a bank weekend role.
Orchid Lawns Care Home is located in the village of Steppingley, in Bedfordshire. Our home offers specialist nursing and dementia support for 24 adults, with 24-hour input from registered nurses. We can also offer end of life/palliative care and respite services.
The home offers a specialised Dementia Plus service, which supports people who have dementia who may have complex support needs. Our goal is to support resident to live an active and fulfilled life, with the support of a highly trained nurse-led staff team.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service and to support the wellbeing of our residents. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you’re assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

  • Ensures the effective and efficient planning and delivery of all aspects of food preparation and cooking, taking account of dietary and nutritional requirements within the unit. Actively involved in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages as well as supervising the work of catering support staff and ensuring operational standards comply with the company’s ‘Assured Safe Catering policies’ and guidelines and statutory regulations.
  • Ensures that stock ordering and rotation is organized in an efficient and cost

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

The role holder’s will numerate, literate and will have been trained to NVQ3 standard with an Intermediate Food Safety Certificate. Experience Experience of preparing, and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment
