We are seeking a dependable Cook to join our dietary team in a skilled nursing facility. The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary and nutritional needs. The Cook will follow approved menus, recipes, and portion guidelines while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and quality. The Cook works closely with dietitians, nursing staff, and other kitchen team members to ensure residents receive safe, healthy, and satisfying meals. Key Responsibilities The Cook prepares and cooks meals according to facility menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements. The Cook ensures all food is prepared and cooked to proper safe food temperatures. The Cook follows all food safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines. The Cook sets up and maintains kitchen workstations with required ingredients and equipment. The Cook cleans, cuts, and prepares meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and other food items. The Cook operates kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, broilers, and fryers. The Cook ensures proper food storage, labeling, and temperature control of ingredients. The Cook cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas. The Cook monitors ingredient freshness and food quality standards. The Cook assists with inventory management and maintaining food usage records. The Cook collaborates with dietitians and healthcare staff to meet residents’ dietary needs. The Cook follows all facility policies and complies with OSHA, health department, and state regulations. The Cook performs other kitchen and food service duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent). Minimum 1 years’ experience as a cook in a health care setting Excellent communication and organization skills. Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible. Exemplary customer service skills. Must be able to work quickly and efficiently. Must be able to work well as part of a team. Ability to maintain personal cleanliness. Oversees and directs workers assisting with the preparation and serving of meals. Trains new employees.
