  • At least 6 months’ experience working in a residential kitchen setting for older people with dementia – Desirable (but not essential).
  • Experience in meal planning and stock management – Desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Understanding of dietary needs of older people – Essential.
  • Knowledge of health & safety requirements in a kitchen environment – Essential.
  • Strong cooking and food preparation skills – Essential.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and comply with regulations – Essential.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills – Essential.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Cook to join Residential Care Home for Older People living with Dementia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and culturally inclusive meals for residents, while ensuring the safe and effective running of the kitchen in line with CQC and Environmental Health standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and cook daily meals for residents, ensuring choice and variety.
  • Cater for cultural, dietary, and medical needs of older people living with dementia.
  • Order, manage, and rotate food supplies effectively.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen in line with CQC and Environmental Health requirements.
  • Keep accurate records, including stock control, food safety, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all health and safety standards are followed in food preparation and storage.
  • Attend training courses relevant to the role to maintain knowledge and compliance.
