Responsibilities of a Cook / Chef: * Preparing delicious and nutritious meals to residents, visitors and team members * Assist in food preparation and planning for special meals, parties and events * Help ensure and deliver a positive dining experience Qualifications of a Cook: * Obtain and maintain a valid Serv Safe/Food Handler's permit * Prefer six (6) month's experience in food preparation and in safe handling of food and kitchen equipment * Ability to make independent decisions and work without supervision * Ability to lead department in the absence of Culinary Services Director * Dedication to and passion to serve seniors with excellent customer service skills * Positive attitude, the flexibility to perform various duties in service to the residents and the ability to work in a team environment are keys to success * Previous experience working with seniors preferred * Ability to make choices, decisions, and act in the resident’s best interest * Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and a level of understanding * Competent in organizational and time management skills * Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills * High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
