KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide and special diets (i.e. diabetics)
• Understanding of nutritional requirements of senior citizens
• Ability to cover the cook’s position, including cooking when necessary
• A congenial personality who enjoys working with and for the elderly
• Ability to stay calm in emergency situations
• Good communication skills
• Patience, time management skills, and the ability to work independently
• Ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with staff and public
• Must be physically fit and be able to bend, lift and climb
• Ability to carry out responsibilities listed in Cook’s Helper job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
• Cooking experience
• Food Safe, WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certification preferred
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
• A genuine interest and empathy for the care of senior citizens
