Full job description

Bay Court Nursing and Residential Home are seeking a Cook to join our friendly caring team. One of our two full time cooks is leaving after many years and we have big boots to fill! There is a weekly menu of home cooked food such as roast dinners using the local butchers meats, curries, pasta dishes as well and favourites such as fish and chips - who doesn't like chips on a Friday (sorry fish!) .

We are looking for someone who is caring, enjoys working as part of a supportive team looking after some wonderful residents. Someone who is a clean and tidy worker, we have a 5 star kitchen rating to uphold. Hours are day hours rather than evenings including regular weekends.

You will get to know the residents well and they are great fun and enjoy the home cooked food which you will prepare. You will have a large team around you including a kitchen assistant with you in the purpose built kitchen. We have 5 star food hygiene and keeping a clean and tidy environment is important to us. As cook you will get to know the whole team including domestics, nurses, carers, maintenance and managers.

Duties to include

• Food preparation and serving of hot and cold meals to our residents, ensuring all special dietary needs are met
• Washing up
• Meeting the needs of residents dietary requirements
• Maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment
• You will maintain records and stock rotation
• To be able to interact and communicate with the elderly
• Hours: Approx. depending on the candidate 36/42 hours per week
