We’re looking for a friendly, capable individual to take the lead in running our much-loved community café.
At The Signals Cafe within Caterplus, we don’t just serve food - we create warm, welcoming spaces where the over-55 community can connect, share, and enjoy great company over delicious meals. Every dish is made with care, fresh ingredients, and a big helping of heart.
What you’ll be doing…

As Cook Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring both food and service are of the highest standard. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the food is to the highest standard
  • Ensure the kitchen and service area are always clean, well-presented, and well-stocked
  • Keep up to date with menus and what food is on offer
  • Offer a warm and friendly service
  • Ensure COSHH, Food Safety, and Health & Safety are followed
  • Preparing and cooking our menu of fresh sandwiches, toasties, breakfasts, and delicious traybakes and cakes.

The Signals Café is part of a close-knit community of residents who value the space and the people who keep it running. This role offers the chance to take real ownership of the café with the support of an experienced team behind the scenes.
Working Pattern: Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am - 2.30pm. 20 hours per week.
This is a lone working position.

What can you bring?

  • Organised and efficient, both in the kitchen and with day-to-day tasks
  • A friendly, calm, and reliable presence
  • Organised and tidy in both kitchen and paperwork
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative

This could be a great opportunity for someone looking to manage a meaningful, community-oriented space in a steady, flexible environment. Whether you’re returning to work, seeking a better work-life balance, or simply ready for a new chapter, we’d love to hear from you.
