The Food Services Team plays a vital role in providing meals to our valued guests. This team includes the Loaves and Fishes Restaurant, Crews Café, and our dedicated Food Van Drivers, all working together to make a meaningful difference within the community.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re seeking someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and:

  • Has previous experience as a Cook, Kitchen Hand, or in a similar role
  • Holds a Basic Food Safety Certificate (or are willing to obtain one)
  • Holds a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (desirable)
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of food safety, handling and hygiene principles
  • Is reliable, efficient, and able to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing)
  • Can manage physical tasks that involve standing, bending and lifting
  • Has empathy and respect for individuals from marginalised or disadvantaged background

THE ROLE

Are you a dependable, proactive Cook who wants to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals?
We’re looking for a passionate Cook to join our Food Services Team on a casual basis. This hands-on role supports the preparation of nutritious meals and contributes to the smooth running of daily food service operations across the Foundation. You’ll be part of a supportive team that helps deliver essential services to the community, working in line with food safety and quality standards.
Please note: There are no set rostered days for this position. Working hours are typically between 7:00am and 3:00pm, and shifts will be offered based on operational needs—such as covering sick leave, annual leave, or during periods of high demand.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Restaurant Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing meals in accordance with food and service standards
  • Assisting with basic food preparation and cooking tasks under supervision
  • Assembling and plating meals as directed by the chef
  • Maintaining kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards
  • Monitoring stock levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with stocktakes
  • Performing general kitchen duties such as dishwashing, waste disposal, and other tasks as required
