VANCOUVER SOCIETY OF CHILDREN’S CENTRE’S (VSOCC) COOK     If you enjoy being around children, feel comfortable in a kitchen and want consistent part-time work, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.   We are searching for a permanent part-time cook to prepare simple pre-set menus for our food program. In addition to food prep, this position will be responsible for general kitchen clean up.   Operating 16 state-of-the-art centres in Vancouver, VSOCC is a leader in the childcare sector. Reports to: * The Cook reports to the Food Services Manager. Here’s how you will make a positive impact on a day-to-day basis: * Prepare meals for groups of 35 to 60 children * Wash and sanitize lunch and snack dishes * Use knives and other basic home kitchen equipment  * Follow recipes and uses basic math skills to determine quantities needed * Maintain inventory and order food from suppliers * Communicate professionally and effectively * Work effectively within a team * Work independently * Keep a tidy, organized and efficient kitchen by washing and sanitizing equipment, supplies, work surfaces and cupboards  * Enjoy cooking for children in a busy atmosphere In addition to being a wonderful and positive person & team player, you must have: * Food Safe Certification 1 * Clear criminal record check * High school diploma * Basic First Aid (formerly OFA Level 1) * Some experience cooking complete meals for groups Additional skills and experiences may include: * Courses in nutrition, food preparation, and storage  * Courses in sanitation and hygiene practices * Experience working with/around children Terms of Employment:  * Salary: $25.31 per hour plus employer-paid health and welfare benefits. * Permanent part-time position: 6 hours/day (30 hours/week) from 8am to 2pm, from Monday to Friday * Starting: As soon as possible * Location: Downtown, Vancouver   The posting will remain open until filled.
