WILLOWBRAE ACADEMY IS HIRING

Willowbrae Academy North Vancouver is looking for an OUTGOING, PROFESSIONAL, & EXPERIENCED COOK to join our new Academy in North Vancouver.
In this role, you will have the responsibility of preparing morning snack, lunch and afternoon snacks for our school from an already approved daily menu. You will be in charge of maintaining the kitchen as well as delivering the meals to each class on site and collecting the dishes to wash them after each serving. Any applicant should have a thorough knowledge of cooking, Food Safe protocols and preparing allergy friendly alternatives. We are also looking for someone who is interested in the process of ordering by using our eCPS online ordering platform. We are a close knit team who value collaboration and positivity, so to be successful here you will need a positive work ethic, excellent self motivation and time management skills, with a strong interest in making sure we provide the children in our care with highest quality of food day in and out.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Criminal Record Check (Provided by Company)
  • Approved and Recognized Food Safety Certification requirements as per Provincial Guidelines
  • First-aid Certificate
  • Proficiency in Preparing Nutritious Meals & Snacks
  • 2+ professional references
  • Ability to work in collaboration with our classroom teams and self-motivated
  • Experience in preparing food for a large group
  • Experience managing a kitchen
  • Basic Computer Knowledge/food ordering
  • Ability to shop for deals/manage a budget

Responsibilities
  • Preparing Nutritious meals and snacks according to the already approved Menu
  • Keeping inventory of all food and kitchen supplies
  • Purchasing of groceries from planned menus and cleaning supplies within the allocated budget through the provided online ordering platform
  • Washing all the children’s dishes and utensils, etc. and maintaining kitchen and eating areas in a sanitary and orderly condition
  • Communicate with staff concerning the nutritional needs of the children, special feeding requirements and allergies
  • Answering staff telephone if classrooms need additional food/support
  • Any other housekeeping duties as deemed necessary from time to time
