The Cook is responsible for the preparation of foods for patient's and/or employee meals as per position responsibility sheet. Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control using established procedures, and standardized recipes. Responsible for using appropriate quantities of food needed to meet production needs. Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary work area as well as following food safety guidelines. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health. Competencies: Practices the proper techniques for personal hygiene, food safety, and sanitation of work area. Demonstrates the ability to safely use, clean and store all equipment used within the scope of the job, including, but not limited to, knives, sharpeners, stoves, steamers, slicers, mixers and food processors. Correctly follows standardized recipes and prepares food in large quantities. Is familiar with all specific assignments within the production area(s), and exhibits the ability to assume the responsibilities of each. Is familiar with the use of departmental production and daily assignment sheets, and exhibits the ability to correctly follow the portion control techniques. Schedule: 11:00am-7:00pm, Monday - Friday and work Every Other Weekend. Must be able to work other shifts based on operational needs. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or higher education in food service preferred.
