$15.00 - $17.64 PER HOUR GENERAL PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Cooking School Chef with the flow of the cooking classes and to cook and prepare Harmons’ menu items in a friendly and efficient manner. This person will assist the chefs at the cooking school and Harmons grocery store as needed with food preparation, cleaning chores, dishwashing, maintaining the cooking school, and to help Harmons’ customers learn basic to advanced recipes in a relaxed atmosphere. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures Ensures the cooking school area is clean, well-maintained, and meets company standards of appearance Prepare required menu items following recipes, steps, and using proper measuring devices Assists the Cooking School Chef with the preparation of the cooking classes and all other events happening in their department and Harmons grocery store Effectively markets and sells Harmons’ products Completes assigned tasks timely and efficiently, and learns to multitask in a graceful manner Follows correct prepping procedures, utilizing prep charts, properly stores and rotates perishable stock Sets a professional and positive example to others using great manners with all customers Communicates effectively and works closely with Cooking School Chef, Sous Chef, all cooking school staff, and Cooking School Coordinator Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained Assist in other areas as needed MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Mentors, provides feedback, and completes necessary paperwork for cooking school student interns. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities: A 2-year college or technical school degree in culinary arts; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to multitask while teaching, and while the cooking class is in progress Must have current TIPS Certification and Food Handler’s Permit Wide range of knowledge in food, ingredients, knife skills, and cooking techniques Be comfortable with a high pace kitchen environment, knife shills and safety, and able to assist with cooking preparation as needed Is approachable, personable, social, relaxed, and passionate Ability to interpret policies and procedures Excellent organization and planning skills Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with diverse groups of people Ability to professionally and appropriately handle conflict, and be flexible to new situations Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmon’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively Continually strives to be product minded, customer minded, personnel minded, detailed, consistent, and forward focused Ability to work weekends, mornings, evenings, and holidays PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
