POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a meticulous and organized Freight Accounting Coordinator to join our logistics team. This role will be responsible for validating costs related to movements and container expenses, managing import/export freight, and ensuring accurate and timely tracking of transportation costs. The ideal candidate will act as a key intermediary between internal teams, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs to guarantee reliable accounting. This fast-growing company is looking for someone well-versed in accounting within the freight forwarding context, contract management, and cost control, who can eventually build and lead a team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 4–5 years of experience in accounting.
  • 2–4 years of experience in container logistics, international transportation, and freight accounting.

SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of international shipping processes, Incoterms, and transport documentation.
  • Proficient in logistics software (TMS, ERP) and Excel.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Accuracy and thoroughness in financial data handling.
Responsibilities

Freight Accounting & Cost Control

  • Verify and validate freight invoices issued by carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics service providers.
  • Ensure correct allocation of transportation costs to shipments or relevant cost centers.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between invoices, contracts, and shipment data.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department for payment processing, billing dispute resolution, and month-end closing.
  • Analyze freight expenses and identify opportunities for optimization or cost reduction.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Produce logistics performance reports: delivery compliance, transit times, transportation costs, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and internal policies.
  • Participate in internal audits and external reviews related to logistics operations and transportation costs.
