About the role This position will help shape the future of Parramatta’s urban forest. In this leadership role, you’ll guide the strategic direction, planning and day‑to‑day management of Council’s public trees, ensuring a greener, healthier and more sustainable city for our community. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a passionate team and make a meaningful impact across the LGA. On a daily basis you will: Lead the strategic direction for Council’s public tree management Develop, review and implement tree related strategies, policies and operational programs Oversee planting, revegetation and canopy‑expansion projects Work collaboratively across Council to achieve positive urban forest outcomes Manage complex community and stakeholder tree‑related issues Oversee budgets, funding submissions and procurement activities Provide leadership, mentoring and support to a multidisciplinary team Provide expert arboriculture advice across the organisation About You You’re a natural leader who’s passionate about creating greener, healthier places for the community. You bring deep experience in urban tree management and feel confident guiding teams, solving complex problems and working with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll also have: Extensive experience in arboriculture, tree assessment and operational planning Proven ability to lead and support multidisciplinary teams Sound judgement in managing complex or sensitive issues Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills Strong experience in Solid project, and contract and budget management Ability to navigate political and community sensitivities with professionalism Qualifications Diploma of Arboriculture - AQF Level 5 or equivalent Qualification in Arboriculture, Horticulture or a related field NSW Drivers Licence (C Class) International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) and/or Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) (Desirable) What’s on offer We are offering an attractive remuneration from $146,512.94 to $161,317.62 plus 12% superannuation.
