JOB SUMMARY

Provides communication support at both district and school levels with a heavy emphasis on family engagement and parent communications including some crisis communications. Provides input in parental involvement strategies and assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of family engagement, parent advocacy, and parent leadership development programs. Contributes to communication strategies and duties for other key stakeholders including employees, taxpayers, voters, external media, and the community at large. Requires work in evenings and on weekends.

1. Maintains successful and continuous communication with parents; the community; school and district personnel and administrators regarding parental involvement family engagement initiatives
2. Contributes to daily, weekly, and monthly family-oriented communications including newsletters, blogs, and crisis-related alerts.
3. Facilitates, schedules, and plans Parent Academy trainings and activities. Assists in development and/or revision of programs and strategies related to parental involvement and the Parent Academy; development of program curriculum; and development of needs assessments.
4. Produces web/social media graphics, photography, and video content for the district and school websites, mobile applications, and social media sites.
5. Serves as liaison with parent and community organizations.
6. Supports the production, coordination, and promotion of school board meetings, community meetings, and off-site school-based events. Availability beyond traditional workday hours may be required.
7. Supports the departmental needs of the Family Engagement Specialist, Director of Strategic Communications, and Chief Communications Officer.
8. Contributes to the development of district and school-based messaging strategies to increase awareness of key initiatives to families.
9. Disseminates information to principals, teachers, and other school and district staff regarding research findings and practices parental involvement and community engagement.
