COORDINATOR, CRUISE AND SECURITY OPERATIONS

Ceres Terminals Canada (now known as SSA Marine Canada) is the terminal manager for Canada’s largest cruise port at Canada Place and provides stevedoring services for RoRo ships. Ceres has a long history in professional marine terminal operations and stevedoring beginning in 1958. Over the years, Ceres has expanded with operations in Canada, the US East, South Atlantic and Gulf coasts along with the US West Coast.

The Coordinator, Cruise & Security Operations, assumes a pivotal role in overseeing the comprehensive coordination of cruise, security, and facility operations. This role involves adeptly handling ground transportation and executing operational plans, contributing to the seamless functioning of a premier cruise terminal facility. The primary objective is to enhance day-to-day
cruise operations, ensuring an exceptional passenger experience that aligns with client expectations. The Cruise and Security Operations Coordinator carries out a range of operational and administrative responsibilities independently and collaboratively within a team, all aimed at delivering superior service to clients and cruise guests.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Post-secondary training or minimum of one (1) year experience in a cruise, operational, and/or security environment or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of cruise facility operations.
  • Knowledge of environmental, safety, security, and corporate compliance practices.
  • Experience in a fast-paced working environment is an asset.

SKILLS

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with team members and external groups.
  • Superior organizational skills, time management and problem-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills within an industrial unionized environment.
  • Strong technical skills (Microsoft suites and Adobe Creative Cloud software).
  • Exceptional writing skills.

ABILITIES

  • Actively assist with operational activities.
  • Effectively communicate and provide direction to individuals and/or groups.
  • Direct and follow safe work practices and identify and facilitate operational training.
  • Strongly adhere to environmental, safety, security, and corporate compliance practices.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule with availability to work weekends, holidays and shifts that start as early as 6:30 am.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position requires heavy to very heavy work, occasionally exerting 75-100 pounds of force and operating primarily in an outside environment often unprotected from elements.
  • Expect to walk 20,000+ steps a day during the cruise season.
  • Significant standing, stooping, climbing, grasping, reaching and visual acuity is required.

Responsibilities:
