Fatal Risk Control Coordinator Position Description The Barrick Africa & Middle East Team are seeking to recruit a Coordinator - Fatal Risk Controls. The Fatal Risk Control Coordinator provides the essential organizational and data backbone for Barrick’s Fatal Risk Management program. The role ensures that all risk verification, incident learning, and action-tracking data are accurately recorded, reported, and followed up across the African and Middle east region for Barrick. Working closely with the Safety Manager – Africa & Middle East, Fatal Risk Superintendents and Verification Officers, this role ensures the entire field-to-governance information chain functions reliably, from daily verification evidence to monthly corporate dashboards and audit preparation. The Coordinator provides transparency, consistency, and traceability, ensuring that every critical control failure, verification result, and corrective action is visible, owned, and closed. Responsibilities: Fatal Risk Program Administration Maintain a structured, current register of critical controls, verification schedules, findings, corrective actions, and closure status. Coordinate with Verification Officers to ensure all CCV (Critical Control Verification) records and evidence are entered into the correct systems (SharePoint, spreadsheet, or dedicated risk database). Track verification performance and overdue tasks, highlighting trends or backlogs to the Superintendent. Administer and update action trackers for fatal risk incidents or control failures. Prepare meeting packs, minutes, and action logs for Fatal Risk review meetings, ensuring proper documentation of decisions and follow-ups. Reporting & Data Integrity Consolidate CCV data from Verification Officers, review for completeness and accuracy, and prepare weekly and monthly dashboards. Generate charts, summaries, and trend analyses showing verification compliance, deficiencies, and closure performance. Ensure alignment of reporting formats and indicators with Barrick’s fatal risk reporting requirements and regional governance templates. Maintain documentation standards that ensure verifications, audits, and reviews are fully traceable and auditable. Support Superintendent with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting submissions to site leadership and Regional Risk governance. Action Management & Follow-Up Track all outstanding fatal risk control actions (verification findings, audit recommendations, investigation outcomes) to closure. Follow up with responsible owners and team leaders, maintaining accurate status updates and evidence of closure. Flag overdue or high-risk outstanding actions to the Superintendent for escalation. Provide clear visibility of progress to site leadership through routine summary reports. Ensure lessons from incidents or verification failures are correctly recorded and communicated. Communication & Coordination Support Coordinate and schedule Fatal Risk meetings, verification workshops, and training sessions. Maintain distribution lists and ensure stakeholders receive reports, escalations, and reminders on time. Liaise with site departments, contractors, and the safety team to collect required verification or control performance information. Provide logistical and administrative support for audits, inspections, and control verification campaigns. Systems & Information Management Serve as system focal point for Fatal Risk data entry, document management, and standardization. Maintain digital filing structures for verification checklists, evidence photos, bowtie updates, and audit results. Support the digitalization of verification and reporting workflows through Power BI, SharePoint, or other corporate tools. Recommend improvements in data accuracy, workflow automation, and dashboard visualization. Ensure compliance with data protection and document control standards. Continuous Improvement & Learning Support Identify recurring data or process issues affecting verification reliability and suggest improvements. Support Superintendent in updating checklists, reporting templates, and action-tracking workflows. Assist in capturing lessons learned from control failures and integrating them into verification planning. Maintain a lessons log and ensure lessons are communicated to Verification Officers and control owners. Participate in internal improvement initiatives related to critical control management systems. Qualification Requirements: ​​Technical Diploma or Qualification in Safety, Risk Management, Administration, or equivalent. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (mandatory) and data visualization software (preferred). Project Management certifications will be advantageous. Experience and Skills Requirements: Minimum 3 years of experience in an administrative or coordinator role within a mining or industrial environment. Experience working in safety, risk management, or compliance programs. Familiarity with critical control verification or audit systems is an advantage. Technical Skills: Solid understanding of critical control management workflows and fatal risk frameworks. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Power BI or other dashboard/reporting tools. Strong data management, auditing, and reporting skills. Familiarity with incident/action tracking systems or risk databases. Knowledge of mining or industrial operational safety context (advantageous). Behavioral Skills: Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and dependable. Communicates clearly and follows through on commitments. Able to balance administrative precision with practical field awareness. Works collaboratively across departments with integrity and discretion. Professionally persistent when following up on overdue actions.
