JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree or Diploma in CYC, SSW, Concurrent Education, Recreation and Leisure is considered an asset.
  • Up-to-date Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months)
  • Up-to-date record of immunizations (including Tdap & MMR)
  • High Five- Principles of Healthy Childhood Development (PHCD) Training is an asset
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle an assets.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure programs are based on HIGH FIVE, BGC Model for Success, and the 4 pillar model: Food & Nutrition, Health and Wellness, Physical Activity, Education and Creative Arts
  • Supervise staff and children participating in the program and ensure staff ratios are maintained at all times (1:15 Recreation and 1:13 License - kinders)
  • Lead and support the after-school staff team through communication via meetings, debrief sessions and evaluations with the support of the West End Manager. Making sure staff also have all the needed, requested supplies
  • Ensure staff/students are meeting deadlines for program planning, weekly schedules, supply lists and also following through with all BGC South East policies & procedures
  • Responsible for daily staffing issues that arise and for scheduling staff accordingly.
  • Responsible for daily/weekly communication with all staff in regards to any relevant information via conversation, daily memos/emails/group chat
  • Creating a supportive and fun work culture (Staff Bonding & Team Exercises)
  • Create ways to evolve programming for returning Members and New Members. (Events, Clubs, Sports Leagues, Trips, Special Guests)
  • Communicate with all staff, children, parents, & students positively.
  • Communicate with parents about behaviors that have occurred during the program. Also highlighting the opportunities the club can provide.
  • Support staff with behaviour management techniques and help create behaviour management plans as an ongoing task.
  • Implement behavior management techniques fairly and effectively in accordance with BGC policies and procedures.
  • Complete records as required (Incident, Accident forms, etc).
  • Collaborate with Supervisors on completing staff evaluations and placement student evaluations.
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure the program is running safely, effectively & efficiently (Youth, Marketing, Administration, Pool & Maintenance)
  • Continuing education and or certifications/trainings (High Five, Licensed (Kinders), Behaviour Based, etc)
  • Lead the development & implementation of high-quality mentorship programs in schools
  • Possess knowledge of and promote additional mentorship resources available to schools/community partners.
  • Assess individual and group needs and adjust program implementation as required.
  • Assess local needs and develop/implement/promote specialty programming
