Description Under the supervision of the Director of Family Catechesis and Evangelization, the Coordinator of Child & Elementary Evangelization fosters the goals and objectives of the parish and the Catholic Church. This position coordinates and manages the evangelistic and catechetical ministries for the children of the parish. The Coordinator works with the Director to expand the existing Religious Education (RE) program for PK--5th grade children. The Coordinator is responsible for developing opportunities for children to hear and respond to the Gospel message. The Coordinator works closely with catechists and volunteers providing both catechetical and administrative ministry support. The position is responsible for cultivating effective means of communication with families of children, parish staff and others within the wider community and diocesan organizations. Essential Job Functions · All Sacramental Prep for children K-5. · Assists the Director with outreach efforts to recruit, develop and expand the current volunteer base of catechetical team members for Children’s Catechesis. · Engages in professional formation opportunities and keeps informed of trends in children ministry, theology, and methodology. · Coordinates the Children’s Religious Education registration process. · Assists with catechetical training for team members and teaching religious education classes as requested. · Plans and organizes Volunteer training of Catechists and Teachers/Aides. · Plans and implements special children ministry events for the parish and school such as Vacation Bible School. · Supervises and evaluates children’s retreats and weekly programming. · Develops positive working relationships and communication with parents, families, volunteers, and teaching staff of children in ministry programs. · Coordinates and supervises the registration and sacramental processes for adolescent families in collaboration with Parish staff and the Director. · Facilitates the Family Formation Ministry. Additional Job Functions · Coordinates processes, logistics and activities for Children’s Sacramental Preparation on Tuesday and Wednesday. · Assists with teaching religious education classes as necessary and requested. · Maintains and keeps current all ministry records (registration, attendance, financial and sacramental) as required by parish and/or diocesan policy. · Recruits and trains Volunteer Catechists and helpers. · Plans, organizes, and implements children's catechetical meetings, retreats, and training. · Researches, orders and maintains an inventory of catechetical resources, supplies, and media. · Creates and submits communication/marketing appeals for the parish website and bulletin. · Promotes children’s ministry opportunities through various means such as making community and parish presentations, email blasts, special mailings, developing and disseminating flyers and brochures. · Attends professional formation, diocesan training, and coordinator meetings as requested. · Maintains effective ongoing communication with families creating opportunities for catechizing parents and families and responding to family questions and concerns. · Attends parish staff meetings as requested. Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required · Must be a confirmed and practicing Catholic able to participate fully in the Sacramental life of the Church. · Parish experience working/volunteering in religious education, family ministry, and/or youth ministry is desired. · Due to the primary duties, experience working/volunteering in Sacrament preparation is required. · A passion for the Catholic faith, and the ability to accompany youth and their families and adults in developing and maintaining a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. · Ability to recruit, manage and coordinate teams of volunteers/catechists. · Strong desire to be part of a faith formation team and work collaboratively with others. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Proficient in Microsoft Office programs as well as virtual platforms (e.g. Zoom). Minimum Qualifications · Graduate from KINO Institute for Ministry, preferred · Knowledge of Personal Computers · A minimum of three years’ experience in a parish setting
