JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection (HWSC) Program oversees the delivery and facilitation of academic and career enrichment, planning, and support. This position is responsible for relationship management activities to enhance the reputation and success of the HWSC program. This position acts as a team leader.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Educate, coach and make recommendations to regional management on HWSC policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance to the model and to meet regional program goals.
- Develop new partner relationships while maintaining existing ones (both internal and external) to support HWSC programming and student opportunities.
- Establish and cultivate relationships with employers and community associations to expand career development opportunities for HWSC students such as job shadowing, internships, and pre-apprentice skilled trades training.
- Oversee and implement post-secondary, academic, employment programming and military opportunity exposure within the region in a manner that actively engages and inspires students.
- Conduct employee training and lead projects.
- Hire, onboard, and orient direct reports.
- Enter data into the HWSC database ETO, pull reports, and identify risks or concerns relating to individual student or student trends relating to academic, employment, college, career, post- secondary activities and student transitions from middle school to high school to graduation, college, or career.
- Manage assigned budget where applicable and ensure costs are within program parameters.
- Solicit input and proactively evaluate business, program and youth needs.
- YETA (Program-wide) : Deliver Youth Employment Train the Trainer Training and certification.
- Beyond the Bell (Regional) : Oversee effective delivery and implementation of after school programming and services as assigned.
- Senior Satellite (Regional) : Oversee delivery and implementation of senior satellite services.
- Post-Secondary preparation (Regional) : Prepare students transitioning from high school to the multiple pathways after graduation.
- While this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Business or related field required.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in human services, childhood or youth development, student mentoring, workforce development, coaching adolescent youth, or related field required.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.

- Knowledge of and ability to apply services from employment, college, career, post-secondary activities and student transitions for youth.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply theoretical and practical adolescent development and positive youth development and to recognize the signs and symptoms of students heading at risk (decisions, patterns of behavior, negative peer relationships) and ability to address with appropriate interventions for student.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply state high school graduation requirements and local school-specific requirements, as well as post-secondary planning processes (FASFA, SAT, ACT and Accuplacer testing, college applications).
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging trends related youth development, work force development, job seeker resources and support.
- Knowledge of and proficiency with software applications and ability to learn new applications (internet, ETO, Parent Connect, Microsoft Office) to track and accurately record all interactions and activities.
- Ability to facilitate a group with challenging issues, define their goals more precisely, and come to an agreement more swiftly and confidently.
