Moran,Assistant Superintendent for Human ResourcesSUBJECT: Coordinator of ELA and Social Studies Grades PreK-5The above captioned position is brought to the attention of all teaching and administrative personnel. Qualifications: Supervisor/Director MA DESE license in appropriate content area.Reading Specialist MA DESE licenseMinimum of 5 years of successful elementary teaching and/or relevant administrative or coaching experience.Demonstrated leadership in curriculum design, instructional coaching, and/or professional development.Deep knowledge of the MA DESE English Language Arts and Literacy Curriculum Framework and the Science of Reading.Understanding of evidence-based, culturally and linguistically sustaining literacy instruction.Familiarity with the MA DESE History and Social Science Curriculum Framework, including the Inquiry Arc and civics education requirements.Experience aligning curriculum to grade-level standards and differentiating for multilingual learners and students with disabilities.Proven ability to lead district-wide initiatives, instructional improvement efforts, and curriculum alignment work.Experience supervising and evaluating educators.Strong skills in facilitating professional development, data-driven planning, and collaborative team structures (e.g., PLCs or ILTs).Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with educators and school leaders to strengthen PreK5 literacy and social studies instruction across the district.Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of district-wide curriculum initiatives in literacy and social studies.Supervise, support, and evaluate Literacy Instructional Leadership Coaches.Model high-quality evidence-based and culturally and linguistically sustaining instructional strategies.Design and deliver targeted professional development in literacy and social studies aligned to district goals and educator needs.Identify, recommend, and manage instructional resources and materials to support curriculum implementation and professional learning.Stay current on and promote research-based practices, instructional strategies, and resources in both literacy and social studies.Collaborate with other district curriculum coordinators to ensure coherent and aligned instructional practices across content areas.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for PreK-5 Teaching & Learning.Compensation: 1.30 ratio for an eleven-month work yearReports to: Assistant Superintendent for PreK-5 Teaching & LearningA resume of the applicants educational and professional background should accompany the letter of application.
