Description Employment Status: Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Schedule/Work Hours: Sunday - Thursday Reports to: Director of Faith Formation and Pastor Summary Support the vision, mission, and values of The Church of the Holy Spirit by preparing people for the reception of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church and undertaking the catechetical and evangelical ministry of forming children and youth as lifelong disciples of Christ. Responsibilities Reports to and accepts instructions, direction, and assignments from the Director of Faith Formation and Pastor. Direct volunteers on the Children’s Catechumenate, Catechumenate sponsors, and their catechists for entrance into full communion with the Catholic Church. Directs the volunteer catechists for religious preparation from K-8th grade in English and Spanish. Facilitate a vibrant and engaging VBS in English and Spanish. Managing director for Children’s Liturgy of the Word Directs Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Ensures that children in religious education are prepared to receive their sacraments of reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Support families in their role as the primary catechists. Establish proactive processes to ensure the safety of all youth and that all Archdiocesan guidelines for the protection and safety of youth are followed, including VIRTUS training. Provide all information necessary for Sacramental Records for Children’s catechumenate, First Reconciliation, and First Holy Communion . Coordinates with Safe Environment Coordinator to ensure all catechists and volunteers are in good standing with the Archdiocese's safe environment programs. Maintains continuous education and training in the faith. Adheres to Archdiocese Code of Conduct and safe environment mandates. Other duties as assigned by the Pastor. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in theology preferred, or equivalent job experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish Experience in faith formation and sacramental preparation in a parish setting. Strong written and oral presentation skills. Must be an active, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church. Have a joyful, authentic, charitable, prayerful, and courageous presence. Thrives in team environments and can work collaboratively. Effective organizer, planner, and implementer. Experience with budget management. Good interpersonal and conflict management skills. Experience in working with volunteers. Strong and current computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook email, calendar, and PowerPoint, with an understanding of Google Workspace and Zoom or other virtual meeting programs. Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and management. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays due to working an unpredictable schedule when necessary. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently. Ability to compose correspondence, minutes, and/or reports.
