MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of learning disabilities, other disabilities, and handicapping conditions
Knowledge of post-secondary educational environment and infrastructure.
Demonstrate ability to provide services in compliance with local, state and federal disability laws (Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973).
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Experience reading and interpreting psychological, psychiatric, medical, and educational documentation.
Demonstrated ability to determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations in an academic setting.

Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to engage in an ongoing interactive process with students with disabilities while providing equal access, accommodations, and counseling to students in the academic setting. The Lead Student Accessibility Counselor will facilitate this by approving accommodations, providing case management, academic advising, effectively communicating with stakeholders and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff in the educational environment. This position will report to the Director of Counseling & Accessibility and serve as the primary contact for the Student Accessibility Office
The Student Accessibility Office organizational objective is to provide an integrated and cohesive set of support programs, services and activities for students with disabilities in accordance with ADA guidelines.
