GENERAL SUMMARY

The Coordinator Workforce Development and Community Education (WDCE) is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality training programs that meet the needs of local businesses and industries. This role will manage various aspects of WDCE programs, including hiring trainers, enrolling students, creating training schedules and materials, and providing internal administrative support. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with departments such as Student Services, Business Office, and Marketing and Communications to enhance admissions processes, data collection, and reporting systems. Additionally, they will update marketing materials - including brochures, the college website, and social media - and ensure timely processing of grant funds, payments, and invoices related to WDCE programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in business or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in education, workforce development, career counseling, or business/industry.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet required deadlines.
  • Skilled in related computer software.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience using Salesforce.

Responsibilities

Examples performed by this position include:

  • Serve as a positive, enthusiastic, and informed ambassador for the College, promoting its mission and programs.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the Workforce Development and Community Education Department, ensuring prompt and professional education.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the WDCE Department, including program coordination, report preparation, and the planning of meetings, trainings, and workshops.
  • Develop customized training proposals and contracts in collaboration with local businesses to address workforce needs.
  • Manage all components of WDCE training programs, including curriculum and material development, event logistics (e.g., catering, registration, screenings), accreditation documentation, billing and invoicing, and return-on-investment tracking.
  • Foster and maintain productive relationships with vendors and students, ensuring smooth program execution and payment processing.
  • Support student success by coordinating enrollment, retention, and completion efforts; communicate proactively with students, administer evaluations, issue digital badges/certificates, gather outcome data, and follow up on graduate employment and earnings.
  • Collaborate with Admissions to manage student registrations and ensure accurate data entry into the College’s administrative systems.
  • Coordinate required assessments, certifications, and licensing logistics for programs; facilitate student placement in apprenticeships or internships developed through WDCE or Academic partnerships.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with referral agencies such as Michigan Works!; upload and manage program listings on Pure Michigan Talent Connect (MiTC) and ensure timely submission of required data and annual reports.
  • Implement continuous quality improvement processes to enhance all workforce development and community education programs.
  • Monitor, manage, and report on budgets related to WDCE programs and departmental responsibilities.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reports and newsletters highlighting departmental activities, metrics, and achievements.
  • Other duties within the scope of this position as assigned by their supervisor.
