EDUCATION:
Minimum Required:
- Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field
Preferred:
- Undergraduate degree, or courses taken, in a Science/STEM related field
- Career Development Practitioner Certificate
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year of administrative experience in an office environment
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
In-depth knowledge related to coaching and mentoring approaches (particularly career and job search coaching, résumé development and interview techniques)
- Ability to source leads, cold call and use other methods to connect with external partners
- Knowledge of science programs and courses and their applicability to the labour market and ability to match this to the needs of students/industry
- Familiarity with best practices for maintaining, seeking out and developing business relationships and partnerships with the ability to generate additional work opportunities
- Familiarity with Human Resources principles and practices
- Ability to assess clients’ needs, suggest options, overcome objections, and move forward with partnerships
- Ability to apply career advising knowledge to on-on-one and group interactions
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Familiarity with Human Resources principles and practices
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
- Ability to foster collaboration and respect among team members
- Communication skills with confidence interacting with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work

Responsibilities:
The Coordinator-Officer will perform a wide range of administrative duties to support a program in the role of career services support for the MMASc students.
- Provides career development and coaching for all students
- Conducts résumé and cover letter preparation, mock interviews, networking and related activities
- In collaboration with the other Career Services Officer, manages and coordinates career lectures, information sessions and preparation workshops for students to market internship/co-op programs and career opportunities
- In collaboration with the other Career Services Officer, delivers career training and preparation classes to graduate students, and develops new opportunities for students to network with alumni and hiring managers as a way to develop their skills and make career choices
- Works with corporate partners to identify and generate suitable graduate summer and new graduate work opportunities for students
- Assists corporate partners with marketing and promoting their work opportunities and events to students
- Arranges current/in-coming interns, alumni, corporate and employer events to increase awareness of job opportunities and assist students with networking and job search skills
- Ensures reports and meeting notes are accurate, thorough and well-written and documented in Connect.uwo.ca in a timely fashion
