Description SUMMARY: The Project Rachel Coordinator serves the post-abortion healing ministry of the diocese by providing emotional, spiritual, and pastoral care to those suffering from the effects of abortion. Responsibilities include offering support through the dedicated phone line and confidential email, connecting individuals with a network of trained priests, counselors, and mental health professionals, and coordinating one-day and weekend retreats as directed by the Director of the Culture of Life Office. The core mission of this role is to offer a path to healing, reconciliation with God, and ongoing emotional and spiritual support. The candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish, a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church, and possess a solid understanding of Church teaching on the dignity and sanctity of human life. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: General Functions: Plan, coordinate, and manage ministry activities in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Culture of Life Director. Engage in continuous training and education to grow in the skills needed to accompany those seeking help, manage the ministry effectively, and fulfill administrative duties. Build and nurture collaborative relationships with priests, parishes, pregnancy centers, and other community ministries and organizations to provide compassionate support to those in need. Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of lay volunteer candidates, ensuring all required documentation is completed and diocesan policies are followed. Plan, coordinate, and provide training and orientation for lay volunteers, focusing on ministry procedures, compassionate care for those seeking support, and the importance of confidentiality while serving in the Post-Abortion Healing Ministry. Support, encourage, and nurture volunteers, fostering their ongoing engagement and commitment to the ministry. Assist in developing, updating, and managing promotional materials for the Post-Abortion Healing Ministry, ensuring they effectively reach and are accessible to both English- and Spanish-speaking communities. Plan, coordinate, and engage in parish and community outreach events to raise awareness of the Post-Abortion Healing Ministry, educating priests, parish ministries, community groups to foster understanding, support, and active involvement. Serve as a representative of the ministry at parish and community events, collaborating with related agencies through presentations, talks, networking, and outreach efforts. Maintain up-to-date Project Rachel content online by coordinating updates and changes with the diocesan communications team. Review and provide educational materials and resources to support both volunteers and those receiving care through the ministry. Maintain an up-to-date list of priests and counselors to refer individuals contacting the helpline to the appropriate support. Organize and facilitate one-day and weekend post-abortion healing retreats using models approved by the USCCB Pro-Life Secretariat, providing a compassionate and faith-centered experience. Oversee record-keeping for helpline callers, lay volunteers, and retreat scheduling, while upholding strict confidentiality protocols for all individuals. Participate in PQI (Performance and Quality Improvement) meetings to ensure compassionate, high-quality care is provided while supporting responsible budget management. Share and raise awareness of the Post-Abortion Healing Ministry throughout the diocese and broader community, inviting participation and support with compassion and care. Provide the Culture of Life Administrative Assistant with all necessary information, including in-kind donation forms, volunteer hours, and materials to be printed in preparation for retreats. Duties and responsibilities may be assigned or adjusted by management as necessary to best serve the mission of the ministry. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrate strong communication, active listening, and empathy skills, with fluency in speaking, reading, and writing both English and Spanish. Be proficient in Microsoft 365 Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Possesses strong organizational and self-motivation skills to prioritize tasks, set appropriate boundaries, meet deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities, and accomplish ministry goals with dedication. Must be able to manage a flexible work schedule, including availability for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Successful completion of FDLE Level II background screening. Possess a valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to operate a van or bus as needed. Be open to receiving guidance and feedback, with a willingness to learn and grow in order to better serve the ministry. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a comparable organization or ministry. Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, registered in an Orlando Diocese parish. Experience as a volunteer or employee in pro-life ministry. Committed to upholding the Church’s pro-life teachings.
