QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School diploma
  • At least 1-3 years of relative experience within the healthcare field, required
  • Demonstrates professionalism, superior written/verbal communication and exceptional customer service skills,

Preferred:

  • Associates degree or Bachelors preferred

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Shift- 8:30am-4:30pm

Responsibilities
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and general medical office procedures
  • Emphasis on computer literacy and communication skills, such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Problem solver with entrepreneurial spirit
  • Scheduling patient appointments, endoscope procedures and surgical procedures
  • Complete full registrations and patient eligibility,
  • Knowledge of health insurance coverage including verification of benefits, pre-certification/pre-authorization for imaging and procedures, etc,
  • Making confirmation calls
  • Call patients to advise of time-frame for surgery,
  • Communicates with patients to coordinate surgery day, arrange for pre-op testing, arrange pre/post op visits as per individual physician protocol
  • Contacts referring physician, provides surgery information and any pre-op orders needed for H&P and/or medical clearance,
  • Ensures all pre-op orders are created and faxed to appropriate facility/s and or sent to patient, including labs, EKG, chest x-ray, urine testing, and/or communicates with patient prior to surgery to go over consents, surgical estimates, insurance authorizations; responsible for collecting monies due prior to surgery,
  • Obtain referrals and authorizations for appt visits, endoscopy and surgical procedures
  • Complete surgical packets
  • Maintains chart accuracy in EMR system by ensuring appropriate records are collected and scanned appropriately
  • Management/monitoring of registration work-queues and financial work-queues
  • Coordinate directly with Clinical Navigator to review patient history and medications to ensure accuracy in EMR and verify medical and or specialist clearance requirements prior to surgery,
  • Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail at all times
  • Ability to interact with patients and caregivers in a professional, personable and empathetic manner
  • Demonstrates an awareness of the scheduler s importance in contributing to patient safety and the efficient coordination of surgical procedures
  • Communicates problems to the proper personnel promptly; asks questions to clarify misunderstandings; requests assistance from appropriate personnel in the event of an unusual or difficult situation
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; offering assistance whenever colleagues are in need
  • Communicates with Physician/s per their schedules
  • Completes all SSI disability forms and Letters of Medical Necessity for insurance information, as well as, explain benefits to patient preparing for surgery
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service in communication with physicians/physician staff, all departments within the medical center, miscellaneous callers and visitors
  • Obtains adequate/accurate information and delegate information appropriately
  • Maintains communication with physicians, mid- level providers, patients hospitals, insurance companies
  • Demonstrates good judgment by following written and verbal instructions carefully
  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt to change in the workload as required; uses time productively
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
