Description St. Teresa Catholic School is looking for a part-time, evening janitor/cleaning person. The school janitor maintains buildings in a clean and orderly condition. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. The working hours of this position are after school beginning no earlier than 3pm, expect a beginning time of 2pm Wednesday is permitted. Nightly hours are not to exceed 4 hours. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Cleans classrooms, hallways, washrooms, lavatories, rooms, drinking fountains, offices, cafeteria, gym, entrances, etc., on a daily basis. · Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. · Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transports materials to disposal area; recycles materials. · Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. · Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications. · Cleans windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees. · Requisitions supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. · Dusts furniture, walls, machines, or equipment. · Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures. · Steam cleans or shampoos carpets. · Moves heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually with assistance or by using hand trucks. · Sets up, arranges, or removes decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings. · Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. · Continually monitors timeliness to achieve timely completion of all jobs.

Responsibilities

The janitor/cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the school facilities. This includes cleaning classrooms, hallways, washrooms, and other areas, as well as performing heavy cleaning duties.
