Description Location: Wayne Auto Salvage 1911 Hwy 117 South, Goldsboro, NC 27530 Monday through Friday 8am-5pm Position Overview The core processor at a salvage yard is responsible for processing incoming cores by draining them of all fluids and removing any necessary parts. They use forklifts and chain hoists to move the cores and loaded boxes or crates, weighing them and packaging them for sale. The position also involves inventorying loaded boxes or crates, preparing them for shipping, and assisting with loading outgoing core products. The goal of the core processor is to efficiently and safely process the cores to maximize profits for the salvage yard. Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Production – Core Processing Receiving incoming cores and identifying them for processing. Removing all fluids from the cores and ensuring proper storage for disposal. Preparing and packaging core products for shipment. Removing parts from cores as necessary. Assisting with loading outbound cores. Operating forklifts and chain hoists to move the cores. Packaging and inventorying the processed cores. Use of drain tables and any necessary tools for removing parts from the cores Processing of cores that meets or exceeds the amount of incoming product. Timely processing of cores, and accurate documentation of inventory. Effectively processing cores and preparing them for resale. 2. Quality Control Quality control is an essential aspect of the core processing job. Core processors need to follow strict guidelines to ensure that cores are drained of all fluids, parts are removed properly, and that the weight of the packages is accurate (when necessary). 3. Safety Follow strict safety procedures for handling and processing cores. Ensure that all cores are properly drained of fluids and hazardous materials, which is essential for maintaining a safe and environmentally-friendly workplace. Ensure that all environmental and safety regulations are followed during the processing of cores. Wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) Ensuring all equipment is properly inspected and following proper lifting and handling techniques to prevent injuries. Reports any issues to their supervisor. 4. Perform Other Duties as Assigned Requirements Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or GED is required. Forklift Certificate preferred. Automotive experience preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required with a commitment to act with an elevated level of professionalism during all transactions both internally and externally. Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must be able to work effectively alone or with others in a team environment. Must be able to work collaboratively across functions. Share expertise with others. Must be a self-starter with the demonstrated ability to meet timelines and schedules related to essential functions described above. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Must be able to remain in and operate equipment in a workstation which is an area designated for core processing in a shop or dismantle area. Work in an area equipped with drain tables, forklifts, chain hoists, and other tools as needed. Occasionally move about a salvage yard. Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to safely operated basic hand and power tools. Ability to lift, move, and carry objects and materials up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
