Description
Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in materials, manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment for casting, keeping abreast of the latest technical developments and communications with our Product Development teams. Design for Manufacturing: Interface with Product Development, Manufacturing and Supplier teams to provide expert input on design for manufacturing feasibility for new cast component designs including work on new technology projects, conceptual simulation interpretation, and related forums. Manufacturing Expertise: Demonstrated mastery in Casting Processes (including various types of casting, post processing), materials, and related technology/equipment (leak testing, X-ray analysis, shot blasting, deburring.) Simulation and Development: Ability to understand and interpret Casting simulation results (cooling rates, velocity, flow, air pressure, stress analysis, FEA, etc.) for concept development and troubleshooting/analysis of defects (porosity, cracks, strength, etc.) Problem Solving: Proven mastery in problem-solving and process improvement methodologies. (Kaizen, Shainin, 6-Sigma, DMAIC) Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of statistics, mathematics, and problem-solving analysis tools, with the ability to read and understand technical documents for requirements and testing criteria. Communication: Excellent data presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with global teams and senior management. Innovation & Project Management: Ability to leverage innovation and apply project management principles for leading action items to closure and promoting systemic quality improvements. Failure Mode Avoidance: Strong knowledge and application of failure mode avoidance techniques. Bachelor of Science/Engineering or academic equivalent. Preferred 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing process(es), with a significant portion of this experience dedicated to manufacturing processes, process control, design, and simulations relevant to casting. Experience in working with simulations and testing results for defect analysis and mitigation strategies. Experience in individual and team coaching, mentoring and development. Experience in Project Management and/or major program launches. Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office applications to generate professional charts, graphs, presentations, and reports. Ability to speak and write in English fluently to effectively communicate with global teams. Ability to travel throughout the North American region and globally as necessary to support supplier activities.
