Description Summary Under the general supervision of Department of Public Safety Sergeant, the Public Safety Corporal provides the highest level of public safety service to the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians by preventing crime and ensuring the protection of life, property, and assets of the Augustine Tribe through engagement and enforcement of applicable policies, laws and ordinances. Public Safety Corporal can make decisions and assist the Sergeant in supervising, developing and directing the activities of their assigned shift. Responsibilities · Assists the Public Safety Sergeant with training, assignments, and inspections to include evaluating shift personnel daily. · Delegate responsibilities and balance workload of Officers and Dispatchers as necessary to accomplish unit and department goals. · Review and approve the work and documents of assigned personnel. · Counsel’s assigned personnel and reports back to Public Safety Sergeant on inappropriate behaviors or work performance. · Recommend employees for commendation and corrective action as appropriate. · Assist the Sergeant in managing the day-to-day staffing of shifts to ensure compliance with established staffing levels. · Ensures subordinates are in compliance with applicable laws, policies, regulations, and practices of the department and Tribal Government. · Participate in the development, implementation and revision of work methods in a manner consistent with the mission of the department and the Tribe. · Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, procedures and policies. · Communicate and coordinate efforts, new information and feedback within the chain of command and across department units. · Command and control the department in the absence of a ranking officer, officials or authorities, when necessary. · Perform other public safety duties, respond to emergency situations, and work voluntary, extended shift or mandatory overtime, based on business needs. · Must be able to work closely with law enforcement and other emergency responders.
Responsibilities
