Position Summary 3-to-6-month contract
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, Corporate Finance, the Corporate Accountant is primarily responsible for the oversight of the corporate accounting activities including bank reconciliations, prepaid accounts, fixed asset accounts, other general ledger account reconciliations and intercompany transaction recording across all the legal entities in the DHC group.

Contract: 3-6 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing corporate journal entries, maintaining schedules, completing, and reviewing account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Responsible for reconciling all non-operational balance sheet accounts including cash, prepaids, fixed assets, debt, and intercompany.
  • Responsible for explaining key variances and movements in balances on the financial statements.
  • Support with audit requirements.
  • Support requirements from tax teams for Canada and international subsidiaries.
  • Support ad hoc requests from management.
  • Development, implementation and support of continuous improvement initiatives on accounting transactional processing.
  • Support the budget process for all corporate departments.

Qualifications

  • A university degree or college diploma in business and/or accounting or equivalent business experience is required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance.
  • Ability to work with multiple ERPs. Knowledge and experience working in IFS, although not necessary, is considered an asset.
  • Hands-on, detail oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience working in the aerospace industry is considered an asset.

Skills

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and confidently deliver messages using simple language.
  • Ability to work independently and assess the importance of tasks and decisions and set priorities, consulting manage for important issues.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders. To work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented work environment is mandatory.
  • Solution and detail- oriented, customer service focus, and positive “can do” team attitude to consistently meet deadlines.
