JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Administrator to join our team in the equestrian sport and event management industry. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting and finance, who also enjoys supporting operational processes in a dynamic, event-based environment.
The Financial Administrator will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting functions, supporting budgeting and reporting, and ensuring timely regulatory filings. The role also includes operational support during events, oversight of billing accuracy in our event management platform (Equestrian Digital), and documentation of finance-related processes and policies.
This is a hands-on role that offers a unique opportunity to blend traditional finance responsibilities with field-level engagement in a fast-paced, seasonal business.
Duties (General Accounting)
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a regular basis.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and follow-up.
- Administer payroll and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Prepare and file monthly source deductions, quarterly HST returns, and other regulatory filings as required.
- Collaborate with external accountants during year-end closing and audit/tax processes.
- Monitor cash flow and provide timely financial updates to management.
- Conduct regular audits of financial processes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
- Support the development of financial policies and procedures to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Duties (Operational Support)
- Submit accurate and timely Equine Canada competition reports.
- Provide on-site support for cash and cheque reconciliation during events.
- Assist in designing and improving finance-related business processes to enhance efficiency and transparency.
- Document and maintain up-to-date records of finance-related business processes, policies, and procedures.
- Audit and review billing data in our show management platform (Equestrian Digital) to ensure billed items reflect expected charges, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage and QuickBooks.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office tools.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight timelines.
- Positive attitude and good problem solver
- 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, finance management, or a similar role.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
