Job Description: Corporate Accountant with a specialized focus on Private Credit to support our general ledger, financial reporting, and control processes. This is a core accounting role within the finance division of a leading alternative asset manager. The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of the private debt lifecycle, from deal origination to exit, and the related accounting and reporting implications.

Requirements:

  • · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
  • · 8–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused on private credit, private debt, or alternative investments.
  • · Deep understanding of the private debt lifecycle and how it impacts accounting treatment and financial reporting.
  • · Familiarity with different types of private debt (e.g., direct lending, mezzanine, distressed, unitranche).
  • · Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle).
  • · Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work cross-functionally
Responsibilities
  • · Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for private credit entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial records.
  • · Manage month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, and variance analysis.
  • · Prepare financial statements and investor reports for private credit funds and vehicles in accordance with GAAP.
  • · Track and account for all phases of the private debt lifecycle, including:
  • o Deal origination and structuring
  • o Capital calls and funding
  • o Interest income accrual and fee recognition
  • o Amendments, restructurings, and credit events
  • o Loan repayments, prepayments, and exits
  • · Work with investment, tax, and audit teams to ensure accuracy in reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • · Support performance analysis, capital account maintenance, and waterfall distributions.
  • · Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and controls related to private credit operations.
