Purpose of the role Reporting to the Finance Manager the Corporate Accountant will assist with the delivery of corporate accounting activities across the Group including financial reporting, consolidation, treasury support and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. To be successful in this role you will bring a strong technical accounting capability along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A knowledge and understanding of te reo maōri and tikanga, or the willingness to develop in these areas, would be an advantage. Ngā tino pūkenga/whēako | Qualifications & Experience A tertiary qualification in finance or accounting Professional membership or progress towards CA, CIMA or CPA preferred A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in finance and accounting Experience working in a Group finance role, including consolidation activities, is preferred A strong understanding of NZ IFRS and NZ income and indirect tax requirements Strong written and verbal communication skills Advanced capability in Excel and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint Experience working with accounting systems Key Result Areas: Assist with monthly financial accounting and reporting including month-end close for legal entities and the preparation of balance sheet and profit and loss statements Ensure balance sheet reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner Assist with the monthly sub-consolidation for Whai Rawa and Whai Maia and the overall Group consolidation Support treasury activities including daily cash flow reporting and liquidity management Assist with quarterly reporting to external stakeholders including banks and JV partners Assist with the preparation of year end statutory financial statements and audits and provide support to working papers Support tax compliance activities including preparing tax returns and provisional tax calculations Provide timely and accurate financial analysis to support business decision making Respond to ad-hoc requests for financial information Requirements & Checks Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand.
