CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT

Located in the North Thompson valley, at Simpcw Resources Group we provide environmental, management, and operational services while preserving Simpcw culture and heritage with respect towards the environment. Our goals include creating economic growth from the commercial development of natural resources within the Simpcw’ulécw (Simpcw Territory) by being the major contractor and competing for work in both the public and private sectors.

JOB SUMMARY

Simpcw Resources LLP is growing rapidly and looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Corporate Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Controller, the Corporate Accountant will be responsible for monitoring and supervising the day-to-day financial operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-Secondary education in Finance/Accounting
  • Three to five (3-5) years accounting experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on meeting deadlines
  • Organized, detail oriented, and a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and skilled in Excel
  • Experience with Explorer software would be beneficial but not required
  • Experience working with First Nations people is valued
  • Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nations community is valued
Responsibilities
  • Complete daily reviews of bank transactions
  • Prepare tax submissions
  • Prepare accurate monthly journal entries and reconciliations, month end close
  • Prepare divisional financial reports
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and process monthly depreciation
  • Track prepaid expenses and inventories
  • Work with implementation and maintenance of internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Provide information to managers to support decision making
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Participate in new system implementation
  • Ad hoc projects/work as required
  • Other duties as assigned
