SUMMARY:

Tennessee Farmers Cooperative, one of the most successful federated cooperatives in the nation, was formed in 1945 to provide farm products and services to serve the needs of Tennessee farmers. The Co-op system includes 42 member cooperatives and 11 associate members in neighboring states. The Corporate Accounting department provides accounting services and prepares financial statements for Tennessee Farmers Cooperative and the departments within. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Corporate Accountant.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (accounting focus, preferred)
  • Two to four years related experience, preferred
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across the organization
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team to complete projects
  • Managing and prioritizing multiple tasks with attention to accuracy and timeliness

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries; reconcile general ledger and bank accounts.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings, including financial statement preparation.
  • Monitor, analyze, and resolve variances and discrepancies in financial records.
  • Prepare the budgets, review and evaluate performance compared to the budgets.
  • Prepare and file sales tax, property tax, and other compliance related filings.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • Assists in department performance evaluation, cost management, and asset management.
  • Responsible for providing outstanding customer service to all TFC employees, Member Cooperatives and outside contacts.
  • Must manage multiple projects and meet project deadlines.
  • Other accounting duties as assigned, including cross training with other team members.
